Seeing the threat, the employee bolted to the kitchen, leaving the robber alone with the locked cash register. The robber couldn’t figure out how to open the drawer, so he fled empty handed.

The attempted heist occurred at about 9:04 a.m. at 5823 Castor Ave. The clerk was standing behind the counter when the crook walked through the front door. He had a black mask covering his face and carried a handgun. That’s when the clerk ran to refuge. The robber was last seen fleeing north on Castor Avenue. No injuries were reported.

The robber was described as black, 20 years old and 210 to 220 pounds with a light complexion. He wore a black hoodie, black mask, black jeans, boots and black gloves.
